Prof. Wei Shyy
Prof Wei Shyy joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as Provost in Fall 2010. He was previously Chair and Clarence L "Kelly" Johnson Collegiate Professor of the Department of Aerospace Engineering the University of Michigan from January 2005 to July 2010.
Serving at one of the top engineering schools in the US, Prof Shyy has an extended and excellent track record as an academic administrator, with experience in charting education and scholarly missions with full faculty participation, and raising major endowment and scholarship funds. Though previously based in the US, he has extensive collaborative links and visibility in the region including Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.
Prof. Shyy obtained his BS degree from Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan in 1977, and his MSE and PhD degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.Prof Shy is an international leading scientist and scholar and is the author/ co-author of four books and over 450 refereed journal/conference articles.
Mr. Charles Mok
Charles is a Hong Kong based Internet entrepreneur and IT advocate. He founded HKNet in 1994, and contributed the company's expansion as a major IP telecommunications operator in Hong Kong before its acquisition by NTT Communications in 2000. He was a founding chairman of Internet Society, Hong Kong Chapter.
He has been actively participating in the community to promote fair competition, media freedom, personal privacy, consumer protection, healthcare, transport, human rights and democracy development in Hong Kong. In 1999, he was awarded as one of Hong Kong’s " Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons”.
Charles is currently a regular columnist for a number of local print media, such as Hong Kong Economic Journal (since 2000) and CUP magazine (since 2005).
Mr. Scott Lawson
Scott Lawson is CEO of SOW Asia, a Hong Kong based charity which invests in organizations and individuals intent on creating sustainable and positive social impact. Scott served as the Associate Director of the James F. Byrnes International Center, University of South Carolina and Deputy Executive Secretary of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. He also served as Senior Pastor of Community Church Hong Kong before joining SOW Asia in 2009. Scott has an MA in International Affairs/Economics from George Washington University and an MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary, with Honors and Distinction. Originally from the United States, he first visited China as an exchange student in 1981.
Ms. Josephine Price
Josephine has been involved in Asia's investment and private equity sector for over two decades. She is is an adviser to Hong Kong based private equity group, Chepstow Capital and a fund focused on Vietnam. Previously she served as the deputy chief executive officer of CLSA Capital Partners where she established its Asia-wide growth capital private equity business and served for 13 years. Josephine is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and a member of the law societies of Hong Kong, and of England and Wales. She is a trustee of Hong Kong's Croucher Foundation, a philanthropic foundation which support scientific research and a co-founder of the Village People Project which establishes social enterprises in rural China.
Ms. Crystal Ding
Crystal has years of experience in PE&VC investing, investment banking and high-tech sectors. As the Investment Manager of LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation, she is responsible for leading the business development and investment activities of LGT VP in China. Prior to joining LGT VP, she worked with Bertelsmann Asia Investments (BAI), a venture capital fund focusing on early-to-growth stage investments in the new media and education sectors. Before BAI, Crystal worked in the Telecom, Media and Technology Group under the Investment Banking division at Macquarie Bank. Previously, she worked in the strategic investments team at Hewlett Packard, where she was responsible for strategic M&A activities for Hewlett Packard in Greater China.
Crystal received a Masters in Business Administration from the London Business School and has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Fudan University.
Mr. En Lee
En is the Director of Impact Partners (www.impactpartners.asiaiix.com), Asia’s first private platform for investment in social enterprises (SEs) which helps investors identify, evaluate, and invest in impact investment opportunities across Asia-Pacific. Formerly an Executive Director of Goldman Sachs, En worked with numerous Asia-focussed funds and advised on structuring, capital introduction, financing and regulatory issues. Previously, En was a Corporate Associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and Hong Kong and specialized in private equity, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions. En is a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) and was a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). For over a decade, En has been actively involved with charity work and philanthropy and in recent years, with social enterprises and impact investing. He is an avid traveller and writes for an international sustainable lifestyle magazine.
Prof. Xiaojian You
Xiaojian You is Senior Manager at the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise of the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. He is managing international activities and has played a key role in Green Leap activities in China. He facilitated the establishment of a new Tsinghua Center for Green Leap Research, built a private-public partnership for Green Leap activities in China, and co-founded a US-China university alliance – China Entrepreneur Network aligning its mission with the Green Leap concept. He is also the co-founder of the China Social Innovation Foundation (CSIF) which promotes new, enterprise-based strategies to address the daunting social and environmental challenges facing China. He also launched the China Entrepreneur Forum and was the co-organizer of its inaugural event held at the University of Michigan in 2009.
Previously, he led several complex industrial projects and was a Certified Quality Engineer with expertise in operations and manufacturing. He also has extensive work experience in China in industries from transportation to financial consulting. He published several articles in sustainable agriculture and economic development, and participated in academic research related to these fields. He graduated with bachelor’s degree from Beijing Institute of Technology, and has master degrees in both Manufacturing Engineering and Agricultural Economics. He also received the MBA degree from the University of Michigan.
Ms. Jocelyn Liipfert

TBWA is an international advertising agency under the Omnicom Group, the world's largest advertising agency holding company. Major accounts served including Apple, Levi's, Coach, Standard Charter, CSL and Huawei.
Mr. Lane Rettig
Lane graduated from UC Berkeley in 2006 as recipient of the University Medal, the university's highest honor for a graduating senior. As a professional software developer, his vision for the future includes utilizing technology and financial tools to fight poverty. Lane started his journey with Wokai, a Beijing-based non-profit microfinance organization which leverages its online platform to connect a global network of donors and supporters with underprivileged micro-entrepreneurs in rural China, as a volunteer translator, and later become the co-president of the newly-launched Hong Kong Chapter.
Lane believes in spreading love and humor wherever possible. He has great passion for foreign languages and cultures and speaks fluent Japanese and Mandarin Chinese.
